Startup Spotlight: Wasla
Wasla is a startup founded by Yasser Talal, a 23-year-old entrepreneur from Mosul. He started his entrepreneurial journey three years ago through several training programs he participated in.
With his partners, Omar and Mustafa, the three of them started the Wasla project, an application that provides a safe and comfortable transportation service for students, which they started at the beginning of the academic year for university students in 2021 in the city of Mosul.
The idea was born after one of the partners had a printing office inside the university, where the female students would come asking him about a reliable driver that he knew of to drive them to and from the university, showing that there is a need and gap leading to the birth of Wasla.
“Five One Labs’ incubator supported us with the development of the project in several ways, including the counseling session and advanced training in the field of financial management, human resources, and marketing, Which helped us to overcome the dilemmas facing us in the project and effectively led to the excellent quality of service that we provide to university students.”
Their upcoming plans are to expand their target audience and include school students, as they suffer from the same problem, and cover other governorates in the coming years.
