Summer Startup Festival
Five One Labs has a few questions for you:
Do you have an innovative business idea? Do you want to more about how starting a business works and what skills you need to do so? Are you interested in being part of the start-up ecosystem in Kurdistan? Do you want to meet aspiring entrepreneurs from your city and learn about what they are working on?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you are in luck! Five One Labs is excited to announce its first Summer Startup Festival, a series of events related to entrepreneurship and innovation that we are hosting in July and August.
The goal of the events is not only to support entrepreneurs in Kurdistan in taking the first steps toward launching their business but also to generate excitement around new ideas, developments in the start-up scene in the region and opportunities for young people of Kurdistan to think about challenges facing society and use innovative solutions to address them.
The events are free and open to the public, and we invite all to attend! You don’t need to be an entrepreneur, a coder or have your own business! If you’re excited about entrepreneurship, we would be happy to have you and introduce you to the Five One Labs team and programs!

Re:Coded Social Innovation Hackathon - July 21-22
The first ever Social Innovation Hackathon in Erbil organized by Re:Coded and supported by IOM. The Social Innovation Hackathon will bring together community members, developers, designers, social entrepreneurs, and humanitarians to build creative technology solutions that will help improve the lives of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Five One Labs is a proud sponsor of the hackathon. We will be awarding the winning teams prizes including mentors and admission into our startup bootcamps later in the summer!
Startup Bootcamp - July 28-29
Five One Labs will be hosting its first Startup Bootcamp in Erbil for all of those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation! Participants will spend two days learning about getting to know your customers, developing creative ideas, and building out your business model. Pitch your idea at the end of the Bootcamp and you could win a prize!
We welcome ideas at any stage and no coding or prior business skills are necessary.

Panel Discussion: "Fostering Entrepreneurship in Kurdistan" - August 2
Join Five One Labs as we host a discussion between prominent and up-and-coming men and women in Erbil who have launched their own companies. These impressive entrepreneurs will describe their experiences, goals, and challenges.
TedX Volunteer Trainings
We are pleased to be collaborating with TedXNishtiman to provide three trainings for their volunteers in Suleimani in partnership with the American University of Iraq - Suleimani and in Erbil. Dates and times will be announced once the events are finalized!
