Meet the Founder: Ahmed Mohammed
Can you give a brief introduction about yourself?
My name is Ahmed Mohammed, and I'm from Baghdad, Iraq. I studied chemical engineering and enrolled in many courses online and offline in a variety of subjects, such as leadership, management, and marketing. I'm a photographer, filmmaker, and designer. I have worked as a freelancer for the past four years and helped with creating many successful projects and startups, such as FedShe and WardyBeauty.
What is your business idea?
Photonect is an online booking platform for photographers. It gives the customers an opportunity to explore and book the photographers that they want, all while seeing with their prices offers and packages.
What challenges is your business addressing?
People who try to find a photographer these days often search randomly on social media or go to the studios one by one, and this means that e offers and the prices in the market are not clear, so they need to have a better way to find a photographer in their area for their events. That’s where Photonect comes in.
Can you tell us about your experience starting your business?
Starting Photonect was one of my great adventures. I started with an idea and a dream, and grew it to be a working business.
First, I figured out the path that a customer will take to make a full purchase, then started to simplify that path into three easy steps. I then worked on the user interface and the visuals, finalizing it with the help of the people's feedback.
Secondly, I worked on the supply chain for my customers, which is represented by our amazing photographers, then figured out their prices and offers and the best way to show it to people.
Finally, I tested the idea by making actual sales and tracking them step by step, collecting feedback and iterating numerous times to reach the best experience for my customers.
What advice do you have for someone trying to start their own project/business?
Starting simple and thinking big is the best way to start your business. Believe in your idea and stick to it, and be flexible with the market needs and people's feedback.
Why did you join the Five One Labs startup incubator?
Every start up business needs to be held in an environment where it will be surrounded and supported by experts and trainers, sessions with useful information and great connections with people who have been through the same journey you are going through. I have found all of that and more in Five One Labs. That's why I entered the incubator and I will never regret that.
What progress have you made on your business since joining the incubator?
I entered the incubator with an incomplete idea, and ended up with a complete tested business that is ready to be in the market.
