Meet the Founder: Randi Rahbar
Randi Rahbar completed her Doctorate in Digital Economics last year. While she was working on her dissertation and research, she established her e-commerce to find out what online approaches would work best in this specific time in Iraq.
She is now an entrepreneur and a lecturer at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimaniyah, hoping to encourage a new generation towards creativity, new ideas, and economic growth.
Her startup, www.shopasar.com, was established in 2018. Shopasar is an online marketplace focused on artisans, locally made brands, and vintage pieces in Iraq.
The aim is to create an online cultural platform of the beautiful heritage of Mediterranean designs to make, gather and sell all in one place. Artisans can sell their work to make money by having access to a new & more significant customer reach, with Shopasar being the distribution channel. Also, as an academy of learning skills through training on how to open an account to sell online, have an e-wallet, and figure out their logistics.
Randi believes that we may collectively accomplish a substantial shift in the economy by supporting local businesses and artisans.
